I wrote about why, despite all the odds, I was excited about ‘Mania earlier this week, but figured as we build up to the big show I’d do a quite predictions post.
Andre the Giant Battle Royal
With this being dropped to the pre-show I can’t see anything major happening. If it was still on the main show I might have gone with a Sheamus return and win, but I can’t see him returning in a match many won’t see. Instead I am going to go with the very boring Ryback. WWE obviously sees something in the Big Guy, but never goes through with it when they start pushing him. Much like Cesaro last year, I see them throwing him this bone. Whether it leads to anything I don’t know, but we shall see.
Tag Title Match – Cesaro and Kidd vs The Usos vs Los Matadores vs The New Day
Only two teams in this match mean anything. However, all of these guys can go enough, despite their bad gimmicks, that I can see this being a lot of fun. Cesaro and Tyson Kidd are probably two of my favourite wrestlers in the company and I think having them drop the belts at this point would be silly. Therefore, I can only see the champs retaining.
Cesaro and Kidd win
IC Title Ladder match
This contest will steal the show and will most likely be an incredibly exciting match. If WWE are wanting to build up the IC title again, which everything points towards being the case, then Bryan has to be the guy. I also think he has to win it to keep his shine. He should be better than all these guys, he is better than all these guys and most of these guys are really good, so he needs to take the belt home with him. Make it the wrestlers belt again.
Daniel Bryan wins
Cena vs Rusev
I want Cena to lose this match. Another big heel being eaten by him at ‘Mania is just a sad prospect. However, I don’t see what they could do after that if it was to happen. WWE have booked themselves into a place where Cena kind of has to beat the big bad Russian and I think he will.
Sting vs Triple H
This might be Stings only Wrestlemania match. Does he win that? Or does the Triple H squash? The story of this match is more interesting than the contest itself and I think it will deliver in that way. Ultimately, I think ‘The Vigilante’ gets his Wrestlemania moment but Triple H delivers a beat down, allowing themto explain Sting disappearing from TV, for at least the near future.
Sting wins but Triple H lays the beat down after
AJ Lee & Paige vs The Bella Twins
I want to believe WWE will give this match time. I want to believe they will let it be great. I just worry they wont. Either way, I think the heels win this one. AJ and Paige aren’t entirely on the same page and I can see WWE using that as an excuse for their lose. The Bellas have improved as wrestlers, so while they are not quite at the best women’s level yet, they deserve a ‘Mania moment for their hard work.
The Bella Twins win
Seth Rollins vs Randy Orton
Normally this match would be an Orton win. He would get his revenge and the story would come to a close. However, Orton has already had his revenge. He beat the crap out of Rollins. The only reason I can see for that is that WWE want Rollins to go over. I doubt he does it clean, I imagine there will be a bit of jiggery pokery, but I think he walks out with his hand raised high.
Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns
At the start of the week I would have put my house on Reigns winning. At the end of the week I’m not so sure. Lesnar is staying and he feels like a bigger deal than ever coming out of that announcement. Suddenly taking the belt off him looks like a mistake. Having the still very green Reigns do it seems like an even bigger one. Ultimately, I still think Reigns wins the title, they have given too much to him for him not to do so. However, I don’t think he walks out as champion, as Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring to cash in afterwards.
